Ophthalmic Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses sound waves to trace the image of the back of the eye. This is especially helpful when vision is obscured for some reason such as vitreous hemorrhage or inflammatory uveitis.

It is in this circumstance that the general configuration of the retina can be determined, for example, if the retina is detached somewhere or if there is a foreign body, this helps to determine treatment options, such as surgery.

This technology is also useful in the differentiation and monitoring of different types of intraocular tumors.
